Release: Wikimedia by moulin in Arabic
Available now, the Arabic version of moulin.
It includes the following Wikimedian projects:
- Wikipedia (69, 411 articles)
- Wiktionary (11, 642 articles)
- Wikisource (2, 578 articles)
While the ratio of articles per Arabic speakers (in the world) is not that great, it’s still an enormous amount of free information for the numerous people the Arab-world, especially in the less-connected rural-areas.

When will the english version be released???

We don’t know. We haven’t received strong requests for an English version, so, due to the work required (English is bigger than 4 French versions), we haven’t planned an english version yet. You are welcome to expose needs in the mailing-list.

Wikipedia only in english would just fit on a dvd I guess? I would love to be able to access it offline.

What about “Simple English Wikipedia”? I think it would be a great idea for Africa and its schools (Do people there speak English well?).

i hope that the english version would come soon , i think it is main language of that project due to the huge amount of information it contanis so how do we miss it like that ? it should be n.1 in your planning list , preparing it to be used offline would give moulin name a prestige never forgotten and remember you do not need any strong requests… by the way i’m an arabic speaker from egypt and i can help if you wish to develop upcoming versions ,,, my congratulations to you sons of Mali for the great work !

Salam alikoum,
Thank you for the great work. I find the french and arabic versions very useful. However, something makes me hesitate to do copies of the arabic one for my friends: no one can certify the conformity of the text of the Holy Quran in this DVD so I tried to remove it but I didn’t find an easy way to do so.

Waaleykoum assalam,
moulin was made in order to offer Wikipedia as a whole, without selection, because we believe that every information is useful.
Of course, texts from al Quran aren’t ‘certified’ but does it really matter ? WP is made by self-control of it’s contributors and while mistakes can stay for a bit, I believe the articles related to Quran are being watched carefully.

I’m not talking about wikipedia articles but about the whole text available on wikisource, you’ll find a discussion about it on http://ar.wikisource.org/wiki/%D9%86%D9%82%D8%A7%D8%B4:%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%82%D8%B1%D8%A2%D9%86_%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%83%D8%B1%D9%8A%D9%85
